After checking in and familiarising yourself with your majestic Arctic surroundings, a standard dinner buffet will be served at the restaurant of the main building. Get your first taste of Nordic cuisine with a modern twist, all created with locally produced ingredients. At the heart of the restaurant is a huge stone fireplace with an oven, often smelling of baked bread buns and braised stew. High windows overlook the frozen lake, where you may get lucky and spot the Northern Lights as you eat!
Overnight stay in an Aurora Cabin (One double bed + sofa bed if needed)
Enjoy your breakfast buffet at your leisure before daytime activities. Christmas Eve and Day activities are outlined below, suitable for both adults and children. The programme is arranged according to the best fit for the weather and participants.
Did you know that in addition to the official chamber situated at the Arctic Circle, Santa also has many secret hideaways in the Arctic? During your Christmas activities, you will get a sneak peek into one of Santa’s secret locations near Apukka Resort. Tiptoeing like real elves, we venture out by the light of a lantern through snowy paths to Santa’s Secret Hut. Each guest gets a private meeting with Santa, including a small surprise gift to remember the moment by!
As Santa’s little helpers, we also need to find out what it means to be an elf. This means learning about the different modes of transport in Lapland, including a taste of husky sledding, reindeer rides, and snowmobiling (adult and mini-snowmobiles for kids). Don’t forget to feed Rudolph and his friends so that they are strong enough to start their long journey around the world! You may also need to help Santa make some decorations for Christmas. Most importantly, though, Christmas is all about the holiday spirit and enjoying snowy winter activities.
After filling up on dinner and taking a break, head back out into winter wonderland in a heated Snow Train carriage. On your passage, through the Arctic wilderness, you will cross beautiful snowy landscapes to reach a traditional Lappish kota. This hut is located far out in the Arctic depths of the Finnish wilderness. Gathering around a bonfire, you will be served hot drinks while roasting your own sausages.
Your specialised Northern Lights expert can help you with camera settings to best capture the Northern Lights. This excursion focuses completely on the Northern Lights, but an added bonus is experiencing the beauty of pure, untouched forests with the peaceful darkness of the Arctic night.
Lunches and festive dinners included at the resort restaurant. Festive dinners include a wine package for adults and soft drinks for children.
NB: Northern lights sightings cannot be guaranteed due to weather and solar conditions, but we will do our very best!
